You're curious about the Sunday Presence Synthesis — what it is, where it comes from, and whether it reveals anything your partner wrote. Here's everything you need to know.

What the Sunday Presence Synthesis Is

Every Sunday, Chosen looks across both partners' separate Presence journal entries from the past week and finds the patterns that exist across them — without sharing the entries themselves. What you receive isn't a summary of what your partner wrote. It's a reflection of what was present in both of your weeks, surfaced in a form that's safe to read together.

The synthesis contains three things:

  • One shared strength — a quality or theme visible across both partners' entries from the week
  • One theme worth exploring — something that appeared in both sets of entries and might be worth a conversation
  • One specific conversation starter — drawn from the week's actual themes, not a generic prompt

The Privacy Guarantee

Your individual Presence entries are never revealed — not to your partner, not in the synthesis, not anywhere outside your own account. This is not a setting. It's how the system works. The synthesis is built from patterns, and patterns are all your partner ever sees.

What you wrote in your Presence entries this week stays yours. Your partner receives the same synthesis you receive: three lines that reflect the shape of your shared week, not the content of either person's private writing. This mirrors the same privacy architecture that governs your check-in entries — absolute and by design.

How to Find the Sunday Synthesis

  1. Open the app on Sunday (or any time after it generates).
  2. Navigate to the Chosen tab.
  3. Tap Sunday Synthesis. If both partners have Presence entries for the week, the synthesis will be there.

The synthesis is available for the rest of the week. It doesn't expire until the following Sunday's synthesis replaces it. Past syntheses are saved in your Chosen history.

What Happens When Only One Partner Has Entries

If only one partner has Presence entries for the week, the synthesis still generates — from the available data. The output will be lighter: less pattern, more observation. You'll see a note indicating that the synthesis was built from one partner's entries only. This is a gentle nudge, not a consequence.

Presence is an individual practice, and not every week will look the same for both of you. The synthesis works with whatever is there.

How the Sunday Synthesis Relates to Your Check-In

The Sunday Presence Synthesis and your Chosen check-in are separate. The synthesis draws from your daily Presence entries — the short, personal reflections you write throughout the week. The check-in is a structured, periodic exercise with roses and thorns. They inform each other over time, but they run on different rhythms and pull from different sources.

Think of the synthesis as the quiet week-to-week signal, and the check-in as the deeper periodic conversation. Together, they build a picture of your relationship across multiple time scales.

Common questions about this topic

Will my partner see what I wrote in my Presence entries?
Never. Your individual Presence entries are private to your account. Your partner sees only the synthesis — the patterns found across both sets of entries. The entries themselves are never shared, quoted, summarized, or accessible to your partner in any form.
What if we wrote about completely different things this week?
The synthesis will reflect that divergence honestly. If there isn't much overlap between your entries, the shared strength may be more general, and the theme worth exploring may focus on the difference itself. A week where you were in very different headspaces is still meaningful data — sometimes more meaningful than a week where everything aligned.
How is this different from the check-in combined report?
The check-in combined report is structured: it has formal sections (Alignment Zone, Growth Zone, Blind Spots) and is generated from your explicit roses and thorns responses. The Sunday Synthesis is lighter and more organic — it draws from your everyday Presence writing and produces three simple reflections. The check-in is a conversation; the synthesis is a quiet observation about your week.
What if I didn't write any Presence entries this week?
If neither partner has Presence entries, no synthesis generates for that week. If only you are missing entries, the synthesis generates from your partner's data only, and you'll see a note to that effect. There's no penalty — you'll simply have less to reflect on together for that week.
Can we discuss the Sunday Synthesis with Yvette?
Yes. From the Sunday Synthesis view, you can open a private reflection with Yvette to explore what came up for you — or open a shared coaching conversation with your partner present. Both options are available directly from the synthesis screen.
