Your evaluation data was designed to be unreadable — even to us.

Video 1.1 — Our Story + What Is UVettd — coming soon to the Lens tab.
Most apps protect your data with policies. UVettd protects it with architecture. That's not a marketing line — it's a meaningful technical distinction. What you write about the people you're evaluating, the CAMERA Method™ scores you assign, the conversations you have with Yvette — none of that can be read by UVettd staff, and none of it can be handed over to anyone else in readable form. Not by choice. By design.
Two Tiers of Data — Know the Difference
UVettd stores two categories of data, and they are treated completely differently.
Tier 1 — Server-Readable Data
This is the operational data we need to run your account. It is readable by our servers and, in limited circumstances, by authorized staff:
- Email address
- Subscription status and plan tier
- UVettd Compass values and Never-Agains
- Usage metrics (message count, feature activity)
- Billing information (processed through our payment provider)
Tier 2 — Zero-Knowledge Encrypted Data
This is everything that matters most. It is encrypted on your device before it ever reaches our servers, and we hold no key to decrypt it:
- Prospect names and identifying details
- Vetted conversation messages with Yvette
- CAMERA Method™ scores and observations
- Presence journal entries
What Zero-Knowledge Actually Means
Zero-knowledge means we store your data in a form that only you can read. Even our own servers cannot see it. When your Tier 2 data is transmitted to our infrastructure, it arrives as encrypted ciphertext — a scrambled block of data with no readable meaning unless you hold the decryption key. We don't hold that key. You do.
This isn't a promise that we won't look. It's a guarantee that we can't.
Subpoena Posture
Under a court order, UVettd can only produce Tier 1 data and encrypted ciphertext for Tier 2. The content of your prospect conversations and evaluations is unreadable to us — we literally cannot provide it. A court order cannot compel us to hand over something we don't have. Your evaluation of other people is private by design, not by policy.
Your Recovery Phrase
When you created your account, you were issued a 12-word recovery phrase in BIP39 format. This phrase is your decryption key. It is the only thing that can restore access to your Tier 2 data if you lose your password.
Keep your recovery phrase somewhere safe — offline, ideally. If you lose both your password and your recovery phrase, your Tier 2 data is permanently unrecoverable. Not recoverable with support intervention. Not recoverable with account verification. Permanently gone. This is the direct consequence of true zero-knowledge encryption, and it's the right trade-off — but you need to treat the phrase accordingly.
Why This Architecture Matters for Relationships
Evaluation data is sensitive in a specific way. You're forming judgments about real people — their accountability, their honesty, their emotional maturity. You're being candid in ways that require protection. This is not the same as a fitness app or a task manager. The privacy guarantee isn't a feature — it's a prerequisite for the product to do its job.
Common questions about this topic
- Can UVettd employees see my evaluations?
- No. Tier 2 data — including your CAMERA Method™ scores, prospect observations, Vetted conversations, and Presence entries — is zero-knowledge encrypted. It arrives at our servers as ciphertext that only you can decrypt. No employee, no matter their access level, can read your evaluation content.
- What happens to my data if I cancel my subscription?
- Canceling your subscription is not the same as deleting your account. Your data is retained in its encrypted state after cancellation. If you want your data removed, you must explicitly delete your account through Account → Settings → Delete Account. See the data export and deletion article for full details.
- What is the recovery phrase and where should I keep it?
- Your recovery phrase is a 12-word BIP39 phrase that acts as your decryption key for all Tier 2 data. Write it down and store it somewhere secure and offline — a notebook in a safe place, not in a notes app on the same device you use for UVettd. If you lose your password and your recovery phrase, your encrypted data is permanently unrecoverable.
- If my Compass values are readable, could that data be used against me?
- Your Compass values and Never-Agains are Tier 1 — they're readable by our servers and used to power features like pattern detection and Yvette's coaching. They do not include names of people you've evaluated or any identifiable prospect information. That's all Tier 2.
- Is this architecture independently verified?
- UVettd's encryption architecture is subject to periodic third-party security review. If you're a researcher or security professional with questions about the technical implementation, reach out to support@uvettd.com and we'll connect you with the right contact.
